STOCKHOLM AND THE ARCHIPELAGO
DAY 1: WELCOME TO THE CAPITAL OF SWEDEN
Your holiday begins at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport where your driver waits to greet you and escort you to your hotel in the heart of Sweden’s remarkable capital. Being a city spread over 14 islands, there is no shortage of scenic waterfront to explore by foot. From your hotel, you'll find that many attractions, restaurants and pubs are within easy walking distance. Suggested attractions include the Vasa Ship Museum or City Hall’s famous Blue Hall, site of the annual Nobel Prize banquet. This is also a great opportunity to explore the charming Gamla Stan (Old Town) with its narrow alleys, medieval houses and cosy cafes for coffee or cocktails. Spend the night in Stockholm.
DAY 2: BOAT TOUR TO THE ISLAND GRINDA
After a traditional Scandinavian breakfast at the hotel, board the ferry heading for Grinda. Grinda is an island located only one hour outside central Stockholm and offers various activities such as kayaking, boating, playing boules, or just enjoying the beach. The first director of the Nobel Committee bought the island in 1906 and built a summer house for the pleasure of his family. Today the art-deco home is the beautiful inn – Grinda Wärdshus. The inn, where you will spend the night, offers fine dining, beautiful ambience and a good night's sleep in the heart of the archipelago.
DAY 3: GRINDA
Today you will have the whole day to further explore the island, maybe rent a small boat and go out fishing or just relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. In the afternoon you will take the ferry back to central Stockholm where the rest of the afternoon and evening is free to explore the city with its museums, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Stay the night in a hotel in the city center.
DAY 4: THE OLD TOWN AND DEPARTURE
If you are departing with an afternoon flight, you may want to take the time to explore the amazing “Old Town” section of Stockholm, with its narrow alleys and beautiful medieval houses.
